How to compare B2B appointment setting companies

Appointment setting companies look near-identical on their websites, so compare them on four things instead: how a meeting is defined, what triggers a payment, who is actually on the phone, and what you keep when the contract ends. Everything else is presentation.

This is the service where we generate the leads and book the meetings for you. Already have leads and just need them closed? See commission-only closers.

The four pricing models, and what each one incentivises

Every provider in this market uses one of four models. None is dishonest, but each pushes behaviour in a direction you should understand before signing.

    • Monthly retainer — predictable for the provider; the invoice is identical in a month where nothing lands
    • Per appointment — aligns on volume of meetings, so the definition of "qualified" carries the entire commercial risk
    • Per show or per qualified meeting — the stricter version, and the one worth insisting on
    • Commission on closed revenue — the provider only wins when you do, but they will be selective about which offers they take

Questions that produce genuinely different answers

Ask every shortlisted company the same list and write the answers down. Vague answers to any of these are the finding, not the inconvenience.

    • Who exactly will be on the phone, and can I hear them on a recorded call?
    • What is your written definition of a qualified meeting for my offer?
    • What triggers an invoice, and what happens on a no-show?
    • Do you build the list or do I supply it, and who owns it afterwards?
    • Who owns the CRM records, recordings and scripts when we stop?
    • What is the notice period, and is there a minimum term?
    • Can you name an offer like mine you have sold, and what happened?

Signals that predict a bad engagement

These are not moral failings — they are structural signs that the provider's economics do not depend on your results.

    • A meeting count promised before anyone has seen your offer or list
    • "Qualified" left undefined in the proposal
    • No named person, only a team or a pod
    • Case studies with percentages but no context, industry or timeframe
    • A long minimum term paired with a long notice period

    Where we fit, honestly

We are a commission-led placement team rather than a volume call centre: our engagements are weighted towards closed revenue, we show you the person who will be on the phone, and we agree the qualification criteria in writing first.

That makes us selective. If your offer has never been sold successfully by anyone, or the margin per deal cannot pay a good closer properly, a per-appointment provider is a better fit and we will say so.
