What is outsourced closing?
Outsourced closing is when an external, experienced sales person runs your closing calls instead of an employee — usually paid per closed deal rather than by salary. You keep the offer, the brand and the leads; they convert the conversations.
You bring the leads or pipeline — our closers work them. Closing engagements run on your existing leads. Need the leads generated and meetings booked too? That's a separate service — see appointment setting and lead generation.
What it includes, and what it does not
Outsourced closing covers the conversion end of the funnel: the discovery or sales call, objection handling, proposal, follow-up and the close itself.
It does not include creating demand. Generating leads and booking meetings are separate functions — appointment setting and lead generation — and conflating them is the most common reason an engagement disappoints.
- In scope: sales calls, objection handling, proposals, follow-up, closing
- In scope: call recordings, notes and CRM updates handed back to you
- Not in scope: generating the leads, unless you buy that separately
- Not in scope: delivering the work once it is sold
How it is normally paid
Three structures dominate: a share of closed revenue with no retainer, a reduced retainer plus a smaller share, or a fixed fee per closed deal. Which is appropriate depends on deal value, cycle length and who supplies the pipeline.
Commission-only pushes the most risk onto the provider, which is why providers who offer it are selective about the offers they take.
When outsourced closing fails
Almost always for one of four reasons: there was no real pipeline, the offer had not proven it could sell, nobody defined what a closed deal meant, or the closer was never briefed properly on the product.
All four are visible before signing anything, which is why the honest version of this conversation starts with whether you should do it at all.
- No leads for the closer to work
- Unproven offer or a price the market has not accepted
- Undefined commission triggers, refunds or attribution
- No access to anyone who can answer product questions
